a. Information You Provide
- Email address — required to send housing lottery alert notifications.
- Preferences — borough selections, bedroom size, and AMI preferences that you choose when signing up.
- Contact messages — if you reach out via our contact form, we store the message content and your email address to respond.
b. Payment Information
We use Stripe to process subscription payments. We do not store your credit card number, expiration date, or CVV on our servers. All payment data is handled directly by Stripe, Inc. and subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
c. Automatically Collected Information
- Usage data — pages visited, time spent, clicks, and interactions, collected via Google Analytics 4 (GA4).
- Device and browser data — browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and referrer URL.
- IP address — used for rate limiting and fraud prevention, not stored long-term.
- Cookies — GA4 uses cookies to track sessions. See Section 5 for details.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Send email alerts for new NYC Housing Connect lottery openings that match your selected preferences.
- Process and manage your subscription via Stripe.
- Respond to support requests and contact form submissions.
- Analyze site usage to improve content and user experience (via Google Analytics).
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and rate limit violations.
- Send transactional emails (subscription confirmation, cancellation confirmation, billing receipts).
We do not sell, rent, or trade your email address or personal information to any third party for marketing purposes.
3. Data Sharing
We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Stripe, Inc. — payment processing. Your payment information is sent directly to Stripe.
- Google LLC — analytics via Google Analytics 4. Usage data is shared with Google under their standard analytics terms.
- Email service provider — we use an SMTP provider to deliver email alerts. Your email address is transmitted to deliver your alerts.
- Legal compliance — we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government authority.
4. Data Retention
- Active subscriber records are retained for the duration of your subscription plus 12 months.
- If you cancel your subscription or request deletion, we will remove your email address and preferences from our active database within 30 days.
- Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months.
- Anonymous analytics data (GA4) is retained per Google's default retention settings.
5. Cookies
We use cookies for analytics purposes only. Google Analytics 4 sets cookies (including _ga and _ga_*) to distinguish unique users and sessions. These cookies do not contain personally identifiable information.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by configuring your browser to block cookies.
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels for third-party ad networks, or cross-site behavioral tracking cookies.
6. Your Rights

- Deletion — request that we delete your account data. Unsubscribing via the link in any alert email automatically initiates deletion of your preferences and email address.
- Opt-out of alerts — use the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or contact us directly.
- Portability — request your data in a portable format.

7. Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
